Delusion
Can you hear the perfect stillness
That quivers in the air
And hovers overhead?
You can't hear it, but it's there.
Can you see the silent nothingness
That's buried in your mind
And burns a hole right through your heart?
This is what no one finds.
Can you feel imprinted footprints
That were washed away by tide?
They disappeared an hour ago,
But they're imprinted in time.
Can you taste the sweet perfume
Of an odorless flower?
Can you ever smell a minute,
Or a second, or an hour?
Though this knowledge, lost to man
Is difficult to see,
The senses are surrounded
By what appears to be
And people are encircled
By things they've never been shown,
And all of us live in an empty space
Filled with what we think we know.
