Insanity
Sinking into an oblivious stupor
When somewhere inside, a switch turns off
Suddenly my mind is devoid of matter.
Where did all my thoughts go?
My head spins, unchecked
Nothing left to impede its progress
Bones make amusing snapping sounds
I look up
Stars and clouds swirl overhead
In one motion, they combine
And I leap into the shimmering night
It is all around me, through me
Shining gray mass of sky enters my head
And suddenly the world is bright with luminous intensity
Concentrated beams of starlight: my eyes
Like focusing a microscope
Now lighter, now darker
Altering my world as I shift from sharp to fuzzy
Are those mountains or giant amoebas?
Slowly I drift between states of consciousness.
My mind attempts to repair its reality
Predictably failing
So, giving up, it dies
And I am free to ponder the world
Free from that cumbersome, opinionated pest.
Yay! I'm insane!
