Star
Single shining point of light
Pierces through the graying night
Others, glowing just as great
Are drowned by artificial suns
Why should I share this dream they have?
I want to live with life around me
Trees and sky and stars surrounding
When will you, a tiny speck
Be gone and leave me here, a grain
Of sand upon this endless shore
Of ambitions to overtake
And leave me dying in their wake
I cannot breathe a poison cloud
How can we live if all else dies?
I will not listen to their lies
Then, after we've blown our flame out
You'll still be there, a tiny spark
To shine for others in the dark
Until they too forget your light
We may choose to blind ourselves
But you will always be there to laugh at us
